Aircraft Featured: Heinkel : Heinkel 111
A formation of Heinkel 111’s from KG55 form up and set course for London. Before the coast, the fast moving escort fighters will join their charges, probably as close escort and a higher, more mobile top cover. Even more desirably, maybe a free ranging fighter sweep would have been sent ahead to distract the defences.
Despite its purpose, I think the Heinkel 111 is a handsome aircraft, and to have been within a formation of them must have been quite a sight.
