Giclée Fine Art Prints
All my prints are produced by IONACA through the Giclée printing process. This printing technique has one fundamental difference to the old lithographic method. Whereas litho editions have to be printed all at once, a giclee print may be printed singly from a digital file.
Therefore, when you have chosen your print from the gallery, it will be printed for you individually. If it is a limited edition, a record is kept of what numbers have been issued, and your print is signed and numbered accordingly.
Of course, in the case of editions signed by veterans etc., a print run is made, and then signed and numbered.
Remarques
A remarque edition of a print has an original pencil drawing by the artist in one of the borders of the print, usually the base. This makes your print truly unique, and will give it a greater value in the future.
An issue of 25 is normally drawn on any limited edition, and of a subject closely connected with the main print.
A 'Remarque' print is charged at an addional £80
Framing
I can supply prints framed if you require. Price on application please, as size affects the cost. I believe my framer to be very reasonable, and the choice of frame will suit most tastes and décor.
Postage
Postage is not included.
Giclée Printing Process
Giclée is a digital form of printing which gives a truly superb product. In the USA, this technique has all but replaced traditional lithographic printing as the preferred method of producing limited edition fine art prints.
Giclée offers all of the things that the old litho process did, with some added crucial advantages of its own!
All the prints I offer are Giclée prints on 308gsm paper, and the inks have an excellent vibrancy and resistance to fading. Both paper and inks have been tested for their compatibility and light fastness.
I believe, as the artist of the originals, that this printing process gives both better contrast than other techniques, and more accurate colour. Therefore, with these factors working so well, a more faithful reproduction of the original is achieved.
