Still Going Strong

Aircraft Featured: Spitfires : Spitfire Mk.V

View Detailed Image

By 1941, the Mk.V Spitfire was the primary fighter in the RAF. The older fighters that a few short months before had been front line machines, were now relegated to training duties or squadron ‘hacks’. I suppose it was a necessary evil, but I often think it is a shame to see a once cutting edge and feared weapon be superseded and “pushed to the back”.

This Spit’ may be a little worn and tired, and training ‘sprogs’ in a quiet backwater, but she can still turn a few heads
